Why do I get the error "The Film is too small for this PCB" when generating Gerber files?

Demonstrated on  Protel 99 SE SP2 


This error means  your primitives in the PCB document doesnot fit into the area specified by Gerber export settings. That is because may be your PCB panel is too big for that area, or because there are some offboard objects that is making the PCB file larger than expected.

To enlarge the film size perform following tasks:
Select File » Cam Manager
Go to edit > change
Enter appropriate X and Y values for the film size; Try generating the gerbers again.
If these values already seem large enough for your PCB, return to the PCB editor, and check for off-board objects.

Find and remove off-board objects by performing following task:
Select View » Fit Document. If the PCB file contains objects outside of the board's edges, the screen will resize to contain these objects. If these are far away, the board will appear very small. To remove these objects, go through the following steps:

1. First, deselect everything  view > deselect > all
2. Go to view > select > outside area ( shortcut key e > s > o )
3. Select the area on design which you would like to keep.
4. Now you see, all the objects outside the area are selected.
5. Now, press CTRL & DELETE key together
6. All the outside objects are now deleted ( will take little time, depends on how much objects you are deleting)
